Election Parameters

  • Name: Name of the election
  • Start height: The height at which funds must be put in the Orchard Pool. Funds that were added before the start height are not usable.
  • End height: The height at which we take a snapshot of the Orchard pool. Funds that are added after the end height are not usable.
  • The range of blocks between Start and End form the registration window. Any transaction outside of this window does not impact this election.
  • Need Signature Flag: true/false. If the election selects this option, ballots must be signed with the spending key. Otherwise, voters can submit ballots using their viewing key.

Questions

One or more questions that this election polls. Questions are independent of each other and ballots are associated with a single question at a time. The initial voting power is determined by the amount of ZEC in the registration window, and is given to each question. But, the voting power is not transferrable between questions.

A question has the following parts:

  • A title: It describes the overwall purpose of the question
  • A series of choices. This is the sub questions
  • Each choice has multiple options. The default option for the Voting UI should be the first one.

Info

A ballot answers one question, but a question can have multiple parts. See the example section for typical election formats.

The terminology "question", "choice", "answer" is rather confusing. What would be a better way to describe them?
